Tribute to my dad

My dad, my friend, my confidant, my excellent councillor and mentor. Words alone cannot describe your love for me and my family. When I have done something wrong, you will chastise me without reservation.

If I want to defend my actions you will say; listen to me, “Erin ki fon ki iru idi re fon”. You don’t know what you are talking about. My papa, my daddy and my baba, papa mi.

You taught me what love means. NO RECORD OF WRONG. Whenever we want to celebrate your birthday in Lagos you will repeat “Erin ki fon ki iru idi re fon” because our daddy, the General Overseer of Redeem Christian Church God’s Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s birthday is in early March, you will say let’s not do that ooo.

Therefore we take the celebration elsewhere. What a man of great humility, care and love for those above and below him. You don’t joke with baba Adeboye’s authority and anointing.

You will never go anywhere without permission and remain steadfast to the end. You are a very humble man and ready to forgive any offence. Your style of forgiveness can be excessive at times.

When you are told about what someone did not do right, you will say:Listen to me, you don’t know what you are talking about that those people don’t know what they are doing. That we should forgive and forget. You taught me to be respectful to all, even our immediate family.

You know my shoe size, dress size, bag style and that of many people that come in contact with you. You are a very stylish person and always want me to be presentable as well. You are very, very generous to all.

You are beautiful inside out, very patient and always see the good in people. You love praising God and will make us to sing to Jesus relentlessly. One of your favourite hymn is Blessed Assurance and your chorus is: Egbe ge ge, Egbe ooo.

Egbe ge ge, egboluwaga. It didn’t occur to me that death can come just like that. It came too soon and you didn’t resist.

!!!Rest on dad, rest on in the bosom of our Lord Jesus. My lovely, lovely dad, Your daughter Ibiyemi Omobitan
