We wish you didn’t have to go
Our heart is shattered, our tears overflow but with total submission to the will of God, we say Adieu Daddy.. Saying the words “we miss you” is insufficient.
We wish you didn’t have to go, we were willing to give anything to have you here with us, we never in a million years prepared for a day like this where you will no longer be with us, to play and smile at us. You were an Iroko Tree. We miss you so much Daddy.
I know that someday we will meet again, but before then, just know that we love you, forever. Your sense of humor is unmatched. Is it when you called us “alawada” or when you referred to each one of us in the pet names you gave us.
Isaac Jr. was your “original”. From his picture you saved as your screen saver, to his pictures in your office in Lagos, to the pet names for my wife, uncle Peter, and Grace.
I'm sure there are other stories like this. Your hospitality is unmatched. Your houses were and are still a home to many.
You left such big shoes to fill, and our hope is that we can do a fraction of what you did for the Lord. You never shut your doors to anyone, you always welcomed everyone, even those you did not know. People meet you and it feels like they’ve known you all their lives.
You never for once failed in your role as our father, look at your children and grandchildren – it’s a testament to who you were. You were always available. You gave them everything necessary to achieve success in life and you set for us an example by all that you achieved.
You knew when to discipline and when to cuddle, you knew when to come down to our level and play with us. We miss you dearly, Daddy!!
